In cycling, the only thing between us and the ground is the bike. The bike is constrained by its mechanical physicality while we are governed by our Biomechanics when interacting with the bike. To ride safely, is the concious and harmonious integration of our Biomechanics with the mechnics of the Bike.
In my journey of riding different kind of bikes from Road, to Fat Bike (or a FAT MTB), to small wheel Folding Bike, to Single Speed and Fixed Gear through a multitude of terrians. This brings the realisation of the Qi in cycling, the flow of energy through our Biomechanics onto the bike. The mastery of this Qi is then the core to riding safely and injury free. I penned this article (The Qi of Cycling) in 2019 when I begin to make that connection.
Cycle in a Way to Cycle Another Day became my motto when I started multi-day long distance bike packing. The only way to complete the mission is be alive at the end.
