Tour de Giona Andorra
This was the first big adventure after a few years of hiatus due to the Global lockdown as a result of the COVID. So, this adventure is about picking up a new bike at the destination and riding it into the Pyrenees Mountains. And that bike has to be a Brompton. With 10 years of rigging it out in adventures, I knows enough about this bike and the confidence that it will do the job. So we booked the configuration with Folding Bike House Barcelona and just went with our bike packs. For this trip, we requested a C line standard 6 speed with 44T chainring for the climbs. So, Day 1, the first thing is to pick up the bike and set it up. It doesn’t take long and we had enough time to walk the city before setting off the next morning.

First stop is to get to Girona as our base to the pyrenees. There are 2 options, to take the train or to ride. We choose the latter. We would have missed out alot by taking the train and along the coast we went.

The next days, we headed for the Pyrenees mountains. The views were breathtaking, tranquil and crisp fresh air. All the hard work are worth every bit of it.

Breathtaking views of the Pyrenees range.

In the mountains, we traced the routes of Tour de France.

Andorra is one of the highlights for this adventure. It is an independent country that sits between Spain and France in the Pyrenees mountains and is a tax free haven.

Heading back to the coast, we took the northern range of the Pyrenees along South France. There was this road, on the left is France and on the right is Spain and we cross 3 countries in a day. Here we pass through fruit orchards. It was peach harvesting season and we could smell the sweet fragrance of the ripen peaches as we rides through.

Back on the coast, we complete the Northern catalonian coast tracing the roads of the fugitives during the war.

This trip would have been wasted if we did not spend some time in Barcelona. So we went for a walking tour around soaking in the culture, admiring their architectures, walking their streets and visiting their local market. Not to miss is savouring their local cuisines.
