In TaiJi (太極), Qi is the foundation to its principle of strength within fluidity.
When I first gets into fixie riding, I realised how stiff I was despite the strength I have developed from regular cycling. Riding the fixie taught me to be fluid in order to master control over it and to be able to switch between forward, backward, left and right movement continuously in a flow without disruption. Through this I learned and understand the Qi of cycling. How to be Fluid yet Strong, Slow yet Fast. This Qi when brought over to regular free wheel bicycle, I found, it made me have better control over the bicycle yet am stronger and more efficient than before.
